Gear Buddy Opinion
The Nomad series was designed as a Freeride series to help you effortlessly play all over the mountain. The 105 is the most versatile of the bunch and suitable for advanced riders living in snowier climates who want an every day ski.
I purchased the Nomad 105 in February of 2019 in Fernie BC at the Ski Base to replace another “106” I had been using. Interested in a Rocker’d ski, the shop pointed me to these and I could not be happier. Used for two weeks in Fernie, I skied groomers with my family and the steeps of Polar Peak under the chair in varied conditions from wind swept crust to 12”+ powder days. The ski holds aggressive carving down the groomers on the days with no new snow, and the faster you pushed it the better it held. The tail of the ski released from turns very predictably every time, even over the ice.
Steep and deep snow seemed to be the sweet spot of the ski as it promoted a balanced feel, helping my less than perfect form. Wind swept crust was met with a bulldozer performance.
Back on the east coat the ski has been great on the terrain that has much more ice that one would like. Putting many weekend in Northern VT the ski worked great in the tight tree’s of Jay and the groomers of Stratton.
The quality of the ski is second to none, the top sheet takes abuse and the artwork remains in place, the base and edges have seen some “out-of-bounds abuse” and have lived to ski an other day...so impressed that my Nomad 115’s will be here next week.
I am 45 yrs young, 5’-11” and weigh around 230...I am on the 181 and consider myself an expert skier of 25+yrs
Thanks for the bomber American Made ski! Don’t change you have a pretty sweet thing going!
